The downside, IMO, is that what used to work in BF2 (prone is best, fire in short bursts) seems to be useless in 2142.Then again, maybe it's just the painful part of starting over again; it's possible that with improved upgrades it'll feel like "home" again. a fun update on the previous BF2 -- nice amendment to how you can unlock items, rank up, etc. Also, nice updated equipment and even roles.
I will be using amazon in the future. I guess that the only way this review is helpful is that Amazon was great in regards to the order and the arrival of the game. My husband and I have played this game with a group of ppl. Our son in law has joined our gaming group and he needed a copy, so we bought it.
just get a good 7 of your friends to join your squad and you'll have the time of your life. The deluxe comes with both original and the Winter expansion HOWEVER the expansion is bugged. Which is the downfall. You must contact EA game officials for them to activate after you installed the game. I was never a fan of the fast pace CoD, Battlefield has more of a team aspect to it. However; with that being said; if your team sucks you suck.
This is an all around fun game to play; however, the real fun is online, since the computers, although effective target (and knife duel) practice, lack creativity of humans. More weapons are available for unlock, although the kits are consolidated into four: Medic, Sniper, Support, and Anti-Tank/Engineer. Once the shield is down, the Titan can be borded, and the gameplay really gets intense. Also, you cannot gain or use unlocks on single player. Points are awarded for doing much of the same things as in Battlefield 2, such as kills and healing your teammates, but also for disabling the said objectives in the titan. First, I need to say that there are plenty of reputable websites out there with great reviews about this game, and all of them at least favorable.
In Titan Mode, players fight for control of missle silos which, once captured, begin a count-down toward firing a missle at the enemy titan's shield, eventually disabling it. Consolidation, thankfully, means versatility rather than just simplified gameplay, increasing the fun factor. What I say is just from my experience, heavily biased toward the positive side since I have been a fan of the Battlefield series since the demo came out in 2002 for the Battlefield 1942 Wake Island map. One advances through ranks as before, albeit more rapidly and with many more ranks to advance through. Use single player for practice, and then jump into multiplayer, and you are sure to have fun. This game, while carrying over some of the innovative features from its immediate predecessor, Battlefield 2, is yet more innovative, introducing the exciting new Titan Mode.
On the Titan, squads must coordinate attacks to disable four control pads for the main reactor room, and then the reactor itself.
I hate it.Titan mode, online squads, ranking and medals are fast paced, skill based, and addictive. EA and DICE deserve all the praise and credit they've gotten for their technical vision.and EVERY BIT OF CRITICISM for the sloppy, buggy, hack vulnerable, crappy condition they released it in. Before you do anything, ask yourself, is this going to waste somebody's time. So, there you have it. Truly challenging and satisfying when you develop the skills. However, I've never seen a game with more bugs and software failure than this. And, EA, are you listening. Add voice (use Xfire, not Teamspeak, which is much more technical and less intuitive), and you can establish real comraderie with people you've just met online.
The truth hurts. The truth is this may be my favorite game of all time.to play. It's possibly my least favorite game to fix, troubleshoot, install, uninstall, search for patches on the web and struggle to get to tech support through the house of horrors EA website. Not another tired return to WWII combat like BF3 promises to be, even if it's with updated graphics, etc.
Yes, there should be a 2142 sequel that emphasizes future combat. Add in the hysterically difficult navigation to EA's website for tech support and the overall useless response you get you could go crazy trying to get this game to work.Problem is, you do because when BF2142 works it's soooo good. Try auto downloads like with the Steam service, or real quality and finishing in a game like BioShock, which released a single patch but didn't really need to because is was so smooth and bug free. And it should.
You could remove half the content and we'd actually get to more of it since we wouldn't get lost and dizzy and confused. It's simply disgusting and shameful that DICE and EA put this game out there in the shape they did. And streamline your website. I love it.
Please don't enslave us with more treks through the Internet to find all the patches that we shouldn't have to download. These two companies should be ashamed. You can even choose, and move back and forth continuously, between ground or air based combat. After four huge patches the game is in a state that it should have been BEFORE it was released.
